Ministry of Power, Government of India established CISMHE as an R&D Centre in power studies in environment in recognition of its excellent past performance -->
The Centre's area of studies covers diverse geographical regions extending from the Bay of Bengal to the Himalayan mountains, and from northeast Himalaya to Nilgiri hills -->


The Centre offers short and long term assignments to experts in the following areas :

  • Biodiversity evaluation, conservation and management
  • Terrestrial and aquatic ecology
  • Remote sensing and GIS for land-use planning, vegetation mapping, forests and wildlife management
  • Geology and geo-hydrology
  • Catchment area treatment and Watershed management
  • Dam Break Modeling
  • Socio-economic planning and development
  • Relief and Rehabilitation Planning
